So there really hasn’t been a lot of rain. There was a little hum-ing and hah-ing as the rain gauges were reading a little on the high side overnight, but they seemed to come down to 1m at Austin Bridge, and I’m convinced they dropped during our paddle down. I seemed to find a different foot position which seemed to help sustain an edge. I need to look at that a lot harder! There is still the occasional break-in where I feel a bit of a kick in the stern afterwards which I don’t understand. Breaking out all worked OK although I never felt fully in charge. Ferry gliding was generally fine. Caught a play wave and the main lesson was that a stern rudder uses all the strength of the river to turn you which is great, I suppose unless you actually need to go forward.
