Breakwater and surfing

Kayak

So this started off weird. Some slow thinking people seemed to have launched a fishing boat, let it drift in the wind and generally be unable to know what to do. They got towed back and helped onto their trailer. We then headed for the west end of the breakwater (dodging some dinghy racing) via the pier at Drakes Island. At the breakwater we had a two minutes silence for Alison Wilcocks. The swell was a little large so no rock hopping for me.

However, after lunch, I tried some surf at Bovisand. I managed to roll once. I think it was a very poor roll, I did enough to get in position for a wave to finish the job, but it’s rare I roll succesfully in anger. It’s a different sport when you can do that! However, immediately after I rolled I had to avoid hitting another kayak and ended up going over on my non-power side. I think the morale of the story is to learn a non-power roll next, before worrying too much about polishing the power side roll.
