Short windy trip to Cable Beach

So I’ve had a few problems with Asthma (cold weather and viruses) as well as being on a First Aid course for two weeks. Therefore, I opted to do the short paddle on the 22nd. Firstly, I forgot to recharge my camera, so the only photo I have is from the other group (that did the so-called long paddle). However, it turns out they did almost the same paddle as us (maybe a mile more). This photo captures some sense of the swell on the day.

There was more swell than I had anticipated, and it was windy at times. Nevertheless, just south of Jennicliff we were really sheltered from the wind and it was only the swell that kept the rock hopping interesting. I have to admit, I thought this would be a real doddle of a paddle, it wasn’t that difficult but it was definitely non-trivial. In hindsight, I think that’s obvious from the wind forecast. It was non-trivial landing on Cable Beach; one of those launches where I had the spray deck on before I was afloat. Paddled close to the rocks in a few places to get used to the water moving me around and managed a couple of interesting rock manoeuvres.
